Sky Sports Keith Authur Comes To Clew Bay

In July 2010 Keith Authur from Sky Sports came to Clew Bay in search of his first Common Skate. It was a memorable trip from the large flock gannets diving into the water, the pod of dolphins bow riding, the great weather and of course good fishing, it was a fantastic fishing trip before ever we caught that big skate. Here is a teaser from the documentary.

World Sea Fishing

This is from awhile back but it makes for a good read thanks to Mike Thrussell who posted a write up on his fishing trip with me on Clew Bay.

The Boat

My boat "Shamrock 1" is a 33 foot Aqua Star and is ideal for in shore and off fishing, her  high gunwales and ample deck space ensure its passengers are safe and comfortable. You will always find the boat clean on arrival. “Shamrock 1” 33' Aqua-Star Licensed by the Department of the Marine to carry 10 passengers.

Gied Your Skates On

First Skate of the year in Clew Bay!! A big shout out to all the crew from Arklow  and congratulations to Giedrius Andrunavicius on his big catch, a massive 178lbs female Skate. The story was featured in the Star yesterday see the article below, Not only was it the first Skate of the year, it was never previously tagged so most likely never caught before but the amazing thing about this female skate was  she was so close to spawning. Which is evidence to suggest that these big fish are breeding in Clew Bay  which is great news for the conservation of these magnificent fish.
