There are 365 Islands in Clew Bay. Mary was born and reared on Clynish Island and from a very early age, had a great love for the sea and angling. As she had to go to school by boat across to the mainland, a knowledge of the bay as well as the art of seamanship was built on every day. She began fishing at the age of three with her grandfather and from the age of ten, took up the sport of sea angling and competition fishing. Like her Quarry, she was quickly hooked and with her experience of the sea along with her competitive nature, quickly became the person to beat in junior angling competitions. After winning countless junior titles, she moved on to competition angling at senior level. |

As she got older, she won many club master angler championships, Connaught, Inter-Provincial and National championships, All Ireland Ladies Gold Medal events and is holder of several all Ireland gold medal championships. She also managed the Irish Team to National and International championships Being Ireland's only lady skipper - in fact, Europe's only lady skipper, combined with her intimate knowledge of Clew Bay and the waters around Clare Island, Achill and beyond, Mary is internationally known for her expertise on sea angling, seamanship and your fishing requirements. |
