Clew Bay off the West coast of Ireland has earned its internationally renouned as an angling paradise.

Many natural features combine to make this venue one of the most productive habitats in the northern hemisphere.

The Gulf Stream runs up the west coast of Ireland bringing in season such quarrey as blue shark, mako shark as well as huge ray and tope. In years gone by, the ports of Westport, Newport and Clifden were known as commercial tuna fishing centres.

Surrounded by beautiful scenery with Achill Island to the north, Clew Bay Island to the West and Croagh Patrick to the South, The deep water bay is offered additional protection from rough seas by the three hundred and sixty five islands sprinkled around the bay.

The waters within the bay support a large variety of fish as well as fishing due to the mixture of sand banks, reefs, deep and shallow waters as well as food producing currents which flow between the islands as the tide runs.

.
While angling is the main reason most people find themselves in the Shamrock 1, Mary is also well known for taking divers directly to good diving marks. Her local knowledge also comes in useful when it comes to dolphin, porpoise & seal watching, bird watching and sight seeing tours.
